Douglas County Hospital Laboratory (DCHL) is celebrating National Medical Laboratory
Professionals Week April 18-24, 2010. This year's theme is "Laboratory Professionals Get
Results." Laboratorians often work behind the scenes and many people may not know much
about the critical testing performed in labs every day. This week, which is celebrated annually
during the last full week of April, offers a chance to find out more about clinical laboratories.

The Minnesota Department of Health recently designated Douglas County Hospital as a level 3 trauma hospital. Douglas County Hospital and staff voluntarily participated in the intense designation process to become part of Minnesota's statewide trauma system. The process included an outside review of the hospital's resources and capabilities to care for trauma patients. Douglas County Hospital met standards of commitment, clinical and equipment resources and staff training. The hospital also participates in a continuous performance improvement process. Douglas County Hospital has received notification they have been selected as one of the nation’s top 100 Hospitals. This is a significant honor to be selected again from more than 3,000 hospital’s across the country. This award recognizes hospitals with the highest hospital-wide performance compared to national peers, based on an overall score across five critical areas.
