Smoking Policy
Minnesota state law requires that all health care facilities be smoke free. In accordance with state law and to better protect and promote the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and staff, smoking will not be permitted within the hospital or at hospital entrances.

Flowers / Balloons
Flowers are delivered to your room by volunteers. If flowers arrive for you after your discharge, the florist will be notified to pick them up. Cut flowers only will be allowed in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit, no potted plants.

Because of the increase in latex allergies in the general population, NO LATEX BALLOONS will be allowed inside Douglas County Hospital. If latex balloons are found inside the hospital, the person responsible for bringing them in will immediately be asked to remove them. If this is not possible, Douglas County Hospital personnel will dispose of them as soon as possbile. The balloons must not be intentionally popped. You may purchase Mylar balloons at the Gift Shop in the hospital or at area florists. These balloons are latex-free and are acceptable at Douglas County Hospital.

Visitor Guidelines
No more than two visitors are allowed at the bedside at one time. Children under the age of 12 may visit patients only during regular visiting hours. It is the responsibility of parents to see that children are supervised by an adult at all times. Anyone with an infection, even a cold or upper respiratory infection, should not visit during your hospitalization.
