The Birth Place at Douglas County Hospital has approximately 650 births per year.  The staff at The Birth Place provides a comfortable, family-centered environment, which recognize the needs of the mother, infant, along with the entire family.  The Birth Place consists of seven birthing suites, along with three additional hospital rooms. 

A water birthing tub is available for mothers to use during labor and/or delivery.  Other services available include out-patient pre-partum assessment tests, car seat testing for premature infants, universal newborn hearing screening and referrals to outside agencies and support groups as requested.

  • NRP Credentialed Nursing Staff
  • Level II Nursery

Childbirth Classes

It is recommended that you attend Childbirth Classes in the third trimester of your pregnancy. For more information please visit Douglas CountyPublic Health's Prenatal class page.

Visiting Hours for the Birth Place

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Fathers anytime. Grandparents, brothers and sisters of the baby may visit the patient and baby in the mother's room.
